Afua Kyei

Afua is Executive Director and CFO of the Bank of England overseeing the financial governance of the Bank’s balance sheet of c.£1 trillion.

Afua was previously CFO Mortgages at Barclays and played a key role in Barclays’ strategic cost transformation program. Prior to that, she was an Investment Banker at UBS and qualified as an accountant at EY.

Afua was named the UK’s most influential Black person in the Powerlist 2026, was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2023, and is a member of the Grocers’ Company. She is an honorary fellow of Somerville College, Oxford.
