Dr Helen A. Thomason, Ph.D.

Dr. Helen Thomason has a degree in Human Genetics from Leeds University, and a Ph.D in Genetics from the University of Manchester where her research focused on craniofacial and skin disorders caused by inherited genetic mutations 

After completing her Ph.D, Dr Thomason continued within academia before transitioning to Crawford Healthcare (later acquired by KCI) as Director of Research Sciences. Following the acquisition of KCI by 3M, Dr Thomason transitioned into Medical Affairs, leading a team who support healthcare providers improve patient care. Dr Thomason currently leads a team of medically and scientifically qualified doctors and nurses in 3M’s spin-out company Solventum, with the aim of providing better, safer, smarter healthcare.  

Dr. Thomason continues to hold an honorary appointment at the University of Manchester where she supports ongoing research into the biology of chronic wounds and the mechanism of action of therapies aimed at improving healing. She has over 20 years of research experience within academia and industry, has an extensive publication record in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and review articles, and is regularly invited to speak at national and international congresses.
