Alexandra is a career diplomat who has spent her 20+ years with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office working mainly on Europe and Asia. She has been posted to Beijing, Paris, Berlin, Singapore and Bangkok, in the latter two as Deputy High Commissioner / Deputy Ambassador. During her London postings, she worked on EU Enlargement and as Deputy Head of Southeast Asia Department. She is now on secondment to the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs as Deputy Director of Northern Ireland Policy, leading on Defra’s policy work relating to all aspects of the Northern Ireland Protocol, informing ongoing talks with the EU and shaping further regulatory arrangements and operational delivery. Alex is committed to gender equality, fairness and inclusivity, and has brought change both to her own organisations as well as using the power of diplomacy to progress equality and provide opportunity. She is married with three children.
